When we visited the college I pictured a lot of students to be there. I did not expect to see so many out. There were booths where students seemed so engaged in the whole environment. College looked like a place where anything could happen. I also thought college would be somewhat similar to high school, but it was the absolute opposite and much more than I expected. It was open to anyone that was interested in being there.
I didn’t expect for the admissions for college to be so complicated or for do few applicants to be accepted. I didn’t know so many people struggle just to get into college. Students who do make it in, on the other hand, tend to stay in dormitories for their freshman year. I thought dorms wouldn’t be that great, until I heard some perspectives from Berkeley students. Also, the classes varied from 800 – 30 students and lasted a few hours, which made me think about the loads of homework. Another interesting thing about the Berkeley campus was the history behind it, like how a building came from England.
Overall, I would say I didn’t expect college to be everything I expected it to be. “College is a ticket to a better future,” as my mom would say. I would never know where that ticket would take me. Just like going to college, if I didn’t know what I’d want to do, I could head to college and it could take me somewhere I would’ve never known.
